Flowers 24/7

Just imagine:

It's 10pm, the night before your wedding and something happens to the flowers...the fridge breaks down, someone sits on the delivery box, the cat finds them...

Fortunately, you have a floral retailer who's open 24/7 for emergencies such as this. You have the option of running down there with friends and fixing the ruined bouquets, or paying for new ones to be made and delivered to you first thing in the morning...or even that night! Do you know of such a place? Do I?

Yes. :)  (At least for Houston-area brides...)

Say hello to Fannin Flowers, Inc. They may seem like nothing special from the outside- situated right next to the Metro tracks in the shabby, empty part of south downtown Houston- but don't be fooled! They cater to every need from indoor and outdoor plants to cut flowers and arrangements- I was quite impressed. Sure there's an over-riding flamboyant Hispanic culture coupled with old-fashioned floral design methods which dominates the way the designs are put together but even then their selection is incredible!

In prepping for the upcoming wedding on October 9th, the bride and I spent countless hours and meetings studying online floral prices and hunting through different floral departments at stores including: Whole Foods, Kroger, Costco, and Central Market. We looked at her budget and the different arrangements she wanted and used up the buttons on our phone calculators. It seemed like we were going to have to settle for all white flowers and spray paint them or cut out designs...

You can imagine our thrill when we decided to just drive down the city streets looking for flower shops and stumbled into Fannin Flowers...

My recommended person that you work with? Carlos. He called their growers to make sure we would be able to get the exact anemones and perfect shades of roses for the wedding. Not only that, but because we ordered in bulk, he gave us some discounts...her total cost on wedding flowers? $500.

You CAN save money and still have dreamy wedding flowers!

Inspiration!

I am sure that most wedding junkies have discovered this site I am going to tell you about, but I only just discovered it a few hours ago!

There is a very unique website called "Dessy" which allows you to hunt for dresses, accessories, etc. for weddings. Not only that, but it has a fabulous tool (my new toy!) called the "styleboard." This styleboard is highly addictive- I just created two in the last hour. It is going to be a wonderful addition to my planning regime for brides. Not only can you upload pictures from your computer or the internet that inspire you, but they also provide a decent array of photos in categorized lists. It's easy and fun!

Try it for yourself: http://www.dessy.com/!
